Healthy training treats

Does anyone have a good ideas about what high value training treats I can use which are relatively healthy?

I've been predominantly using cheese when on walks (had tried chicken but that wasn't tasty enough) but I'm worried about weight gain!

I do use a lot of treats when out and it seems to be working, Sprout checks in regularly and has good recall, but is starting to look a little plump 😳😳.

Thank you!!

Beef. A little goes a very long way as it's really tasty for dogs - the fat makes it more appealing than chicken. A cheap joint of beef (think a poster got a 1.5kg joint for £7 in Tesco recently for Christmas) can be cooked up then carved up into pieces the size of your thumb nail once fully cooled. You can also freeze it and it lasts for about 6 months. It's what I give my dogs when I'm feeling lazy.

A 1KG joint lasts about two weeks in my house (four dogs).

Places like Paws Trading and Anco do dog paté which can be cut up into teeny tiny bits for training. I save the super high value (chicken, beef, pork) for recall training. But dogs adore the paté - friends of my pup who won't touch normal treatos will take a chunk of paté. I get stuff that's not in most dog foods, so it won't be a problem for dogs with intolerances to things like chicken, beef or cheese - the rabbit paté from Paws Trading is like crack cocaine for dogs 😄

JR pate no additives good quality. Just cut down daily food allowance depending on how much you use.

Cut it into small pieces and freeze it. Take out what you need when you need it

Try tor JR pet products pate, various flavours and you cut up whatever you need.
