Flea treatment

first time dealing with fleas so just a few questions.
spot on treatment put on 2 weeks ago, dog only had one flea on him at that time but I was bitten too!
washed him in flea shampoo, dried and then applied spot on treatment, hoovered everywhere , washed everything etc / sprayed with Indorex around carpets, skirtings, settee etc
I’m still finding a flea or two per day when I comb my dog in bath . Do you think it’s the spot on not working or does it take time? I’m getting really down about it all as it’s so much work and I don’t have a dryer so having to dry everything indooors.

thank you

Over the counter flea treatment is not very effective as you are now experiencing, I know it will be a lot more expensive but I would go to the vets and get some from them. It’s the difference between DIY decorating and getting a professional in. We have three Collie's all treated via the vets and never have an issuse with either fleas or ticks.

They can sort you out worming tables as well.

You need to re apply flea treatment after 10 days.
If you have an infestation again after 2 weeks and after 4 weeks.
Plus everything washable needs to be done at 60°C and then spray with indorex.
If you have an infestation, spray indorex again after 4-6 weeks.

That should do the trick, no need for top up afterwards! (Best not to over do it as the buggers become resistant!)

@Ylvamoon I didn’t know I could put treatment on again that quickly- it’s effipro and says every 4 weeks . I think we might be getting some result… when I did combing this evening I found one tiny alive one and one bigger dead one! I assume it died because it came in contact with my dog? This was on dry fur and using my nitty gritty comb

Also more indorex came today so will be spraying areas I may have missed and just extra to be on safe side. I also have some
herbal stuff which I know won’t be overly effective but it’s something extra too and I use it in my own body to hopefully stop them biting me! Also colloidal silver spray has been amazing for my bites- gets rid of them quickly.

I have used both over the counter and prescribed flea treatment and they are not comparable. Over the counter did not work. Prescribed had the fleas falling off my dog in droves within the hour.

Does anyone know of a herbal remedy please ?
Sorry to Jump in on this, our dog can't have the flea medicine he gets fits. X

@Copperoliverbear I bought from https://herbalpetsupplies.co.uk/product-tag/parasites/

I got the shampoo and the no more bites liquid, I have mixed some of this with water to make up a solution that I am spraying on him daily, also on myself and bedding, carpets etc. smells lovely. Can’t say how effective it is as only been using for a week but also using some other products (non herbal)
