Researching for a family dog. I work hybrid and go to the office once every two weeks. Dh comes home at 130 from work. Our boys are 9 amd 11. Both asd but main stream school.
Live near a park and lots of woods. 4 bed semi house, average garden but have 6 chickens.
Nothing too large. I'd love a golden but too large I think. I'd love a cavalier but health worries me. Have also looked at poodles but they are very bright.
Not keen on borders terriers though. Open to other suggestions. My parents have a sprocker so needs to be happy woth other dogs too

It's amazing how many people on here that know of the havanese breed. I have 2 and I'm always asked what breed they are and even when I tell them 99% have never heard of them. As I've said upthread they are funny, sweet, cuddly wee dogs.

Or having health issues. Rescue have said no to you for a reason.

Discounting a breed, especially a CKC, for health issues isn't being picky. It's being responsible.

I didn't want yappy either, OP. That's why I went large! I have yet to find a small dog that isn't known for its vocalness, although I accept there are exceptions to the rule in these breeds!

I wanted a GR without excessive shedding so I went for a retriever/poodle. Mine is crossed with a standard and there are no guarantees on size anyway as obviously they're a cross, but if you do your research you can gauge size a little from previous litters.

If mine was supposed to be super intelligent, she didn't get the memo! She reacts to her environment, so if my boys are being boisterous, she joins in, but whilst they're at school or having downtime, she's really chilled.

Australian Labradoodle, as mentioned already I think, is also a good shout.
