Feel burned by fostering

We took on a foster to adopt dog Dec last year. He had a particular medical condition which needed working through. We were never given full details of this condition, and it’s been flipping grim dealing with it. We finally seem to have nailed it 6 months ago, but the rescue wouldn’t allow us to adopt at that point. He then developed two additional medical conditions since then - one of which needs surgery.

The rescue aren’t committing to the surgery, the dog is in severe pain, and we can’t afford to pay. We are faced with leaving this dog in pain or demanding they let us adopt him and face crippling vets fees. We adore the dog and kids would be bereft if we sent him back.

I feel so angry about this. The rescue just don’t care. I’ll never rescue another dog ever again.

Whose responsibility are the vets bills currently? It's inhumane for the dog to be left in pain. If the op isn't feasible either a treatment plan needs to be worked out or he needs to be put to sleep.

Is If possible they still think you’re going to adopt him? You said it’s a ‘foster to adopt.’

Why didn’t they let you adopt him? I’ve never known a rescue not allow the foster dog to be adopted by their fosterers…

Why wouldn't the rescue let you adopt? Sounds a bit of a weird set up.
