Token present for a new puppy

I’d like to buy a present (preferably no more than a fiver, tenner absolute max) for someone’s new puppy. However, I know nothing about dogs. Puppy is I think a labrador or Labrador type, very very young (but obviously will grow!) Any recommendations? I thought of a chew toy but a brief google suggested those can be a choking hazard? What would you thank me for if you had a young puppy?

My lab has always loved rope toys! She’s 9 now and still plays with toys daily.

Choose something from the Kong range of toys and you won’t go far wrong.

Nylon bone....

An empty, washed out 1 litre Coke bottle (other soft drinks are available) without the lid or label. Hours of noisy fun for the puppy.

Very much the thought that counts, and it really does count here. By that I mean the fact that you thought to do it and wanted to means more than the specific gift. Any puppy safe toy or puppy treats with either a little welcome note to the pup or a little congratulations type note to the puppy parent. If you want to give a Christmas gift too, a framed photo of the new arrival x

Empty coke bottle and new socks for the owner

Traditional bonio biscuits or Winalot shapes. Our dogs have always loved them.

Absolutely this. My 13 year old dog still gets excited by an empty bottle!

It has to be a 2 litre bottle though as we will not touch any other size.

Thank you all for your suggestions!

She’s a new dog owner so might be a bit hmmm at the coke bottle as a present, but I’m deffo going to pass it on as a tip - that one seems unanimous

My Labs also loved tough large plastic flower pots with large holes in the bottom. Not the brittle ones that split but the slightly rubbery textured ones, usually black. All of them have picked them up by the lower edge of the rim and looked through the holes. Makes me smile remembering.
