Tips for muddy paw cleaning

We’re rural and it’s getting wet underfoot again. I’ve got a Mud Daddy, but the endless pumping to wash her paws is tedious. There’s a powered pump available to buy but that’s another ££.

She needs cleaning before getting in the car so needs to be portable. I’m thinking of some sort of large container with a waterproof lid so I can dip her paws in.

What do you use? Any tips would be much appreciated.

Paw cleaners do exist

Never used them though

@KeenOtter thanks, yes I’ve seen those and probably ok for a pavement walk, but I need something that will do tops of legs/ stomach (maybe ears!).

We have a filthy car boot: heavyweight plastic boot liner, with an old fleece blanket on top.

And when the dog gets to the house, a Turtle Mat is your best friend. Just incredible how much crap those things get off.

ETA, sorry, just saw your comment about legs and stomach.

You can get towel bags to put the dog in while in the car which would clean their paws somewhat.

I use an old washing up bowl with luke-warm water and stand DDog in it after a muddy walk, to clean her paws and stomach. However, I do this at home and it isn't very portable...but how about something like this?

You could half-fill it with hot water before your walk, which would probably have cooled to luke-warm by the end, and clip the lid on to prevent spills during the journey.

Or (probably easier) take an old washing bowl and fill an old 5 litre lidded mineral water bottle with warm water before you go. Put them both in your car, and at the end of the walk, pour the water into the washing up bowl and pop your dog into it.

@FlowersOfSulphur thank you, I hadn’t thought of a washing up bowl. That would work well.

I use a drying coat from Amazon to keep the worst of the mud off my car and just wipe his paws off.

I'm in a lot of professional dog walking groups and pretty much every single portable "dog wash" has issues of some kind!
