Years dog food…?

Has anyone got their dogs on years? I’ve been used to kibble/wet food that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg, however, I have struggled to find food that both of my spaniels love and continue to eat.

I ordered a trial box of years and I have never seen my dogs as excited about their food which obviously makes me super happy but I just think it’s so expensive, especially for 2 dogs. I know that the daily calories/portions are correct based on their calculations however, I am just struggling to see if they will be satisfied throughout the day. My dogs are used getting fed twice a day however if I was to split the years’ daily portion into two meal times, it would be a tiny portion. Does anyone else have these thoughts? I was thinking about giving them years in one meal and a small snack at their second meal time but again it means buying more and spending even more money. I think the years subscription is working out at £155 per month.

is it just me 😵‍💫

We tried it and whilst both dogs loved it, when the next order was delivered, one of them turned up their nose at most of the packs.

Like you, I was concerned about the portion size but I think that's the point of the powder that comes with it - I think it bulks it out in their stomachs.

Either way, it was far too expensive, messy when dealing with open trays, and I ended up having to add powdered chicken as a topper to get to the end of the batch. I also really dislike the subscription model and now avoid any of these. One day I'll stop falling for the claims that the food is customised for my dogs - it isn't and clearly can't be as a viable business model.

Have you found anything that your dogs truly love to eat? I’ll give it a go and see but as soon as one turns their nose up at it I couldn’t afford to continue with it if they don’t eat it

I've discovered that if one likes a particular food, the other doesn't. It's almost like they agree it between themselves to wind me up.

What I've discovered to work is to add a topper to the food for whichever dog doesn't like it - that way I at least get to use up the remaining unliked food. My really fussy one will eat something if it's topped with Bella & Duke Magic sprinkles or James and Ella Chicken topper powders. No doubt she'll wise up to that soon but it saves on any wastage whilst I try yet another food.
