Help needed! 6 mo lurcher lost her mind

Hi everyone,
I really need some help. I’ve adopted a lurcher about a month ago and she’s been an angel - walking well on the lead, not crying at night etc. We felt soo lucky.
Then she’s hit 6 months and she’s like a different dog. She’s ripped the carpet off our stairs and chewed the stair, destroyed her bed, she keeps jumping at our faces and she’s targeting one of my 4 year olds really constantly. She’s constantly chewing on his feet and jumping at him. I feel like all of a sudden I cannot take my eyes off her and I feel anxious and on edge.
i walk her twice a day but she is soo lazy and resists the walk - I basically have to drag her around a field. I have kong treats, ropes, etc. I just don’t know what else to do. Please help!

Way too late to be using puppy pads. Six month olds can hold and should be at that age. Puppy pads will just make things much much harder. For reference I have a four month old who asks out at night ( but still messes up during the cause of excitement)

@sunsetsandboardwalks because of her age and the fact she can’t hold her bladder overnight yet.

All you're doing is teaching her to pee inside.

If she can't hold her bladder (which is normal at six months) then someone needs to wake up and take her to the toilet.

I get people don’t like puppy pads, but she’s a rescue who has never been toilet trained and we’ve had her a month. She needs time and patience and she will get there.

But all you're doing by giving her somewhere to pee indoors is teaching her "it's okay to pee indoors" Confused

It's not about not liking puppy pads, it's about the fact that you're literally teaching her to do the total opposite of what you actually want her to do, lol.

@sunsetsandboardwalks honestly I get that’s you’re opinion and what’s worked for you. I didn’t actually come on here asking for advice about toilet training, nor do I need it. Thanks.

We adopted a lurcher almost 3 years ago. He was 8 months old at the time but he took waaay more than 3 months to truly settle with us. Genuinely it was more like a year but I think he’d been neglected and quite badly treated before he came to us.

watching him grow in trust and confidence has been brilliant. He used to be really scared of me but now, I’m his human. He’s very “vocal” and barks a lot.

I agree about getting them checked out at the vet. There might well be a pain issue. A change in behaviour is usually worth investigating.

@LoveSandbanks aww I love hearing of these lovely animals feeling safe at last. Ours is a beautiful, affectionate soul and she just needs to learn some ground rules and I know we will be golden
