Oral cancer?

Two weeks ago on Friday, I noticed a tumour in my dog's mouth. He's ?10 GSDxGR. He could be a bit older.

The vet said it needed a biopsy and head/neck xray. He went in for light sedation as he has a murmur, but he wouldn't go down. So he had to have a GA. I thought they were going to biopsy, but they did a Fine Needle Aspiration.

The head/neck xray showed some suspicion of bone involvement. The FNA has come back inconclusive and biopsy is recommended. So now he's going in tomorrow for a biopsy+/- excision under GA.

Does anyone have any experience? I don't want him to have radical surgery.

No experience but here for the hand hold. Our cocker spaniel is having a biopsy on Wednesday. He’s only 4. Is heart breaking and so unfair.

Oh I'm so sorry. I hope it's good news.

My 12 year old Sheltie had a growth removed yesterday from her mouth and we are waiting for the results. I hope we all get good news.

He's gone. The vet showed me the slides from the FNA and I decided not to put him through the biopsy which would confirm what we knew. The tumour had grown in the last week and average prognosis even after surgery is 65 days, so it was time.
