Only if you wear a fur coat and walk barefoot.. I live by the beach and I'm constantly baffled by people who do this.

Great answer

No Just walked my dog over parkland and fields and it was very hot for her then. Better to leave at home in the cool.

Dogs in hot climates are far more used to these sorts of temperatures. Dogs in the UK, or similar, are not. That's like comparing apples and oranges

Except it isn’t.

'Living in a nightmare': Couple's dogs die from heat stroke
Yahoo News Australia
Updated 26 March 2017

In December 2023 it nearly reached 50C, and in March 2017 it reached 34C - when those dogs died that you have posted about.

So, actually, incredibly hot even by Australia standards (temperatures in December usually late 30s and in March late 20s). The UK, atm, is incredibly hot by UK standards.

All you have done is reinforce the point of posters saying OP should not risk it.

@Marshtit not on the paws! We were on south coast U.K. 2 weeks ago and sand was hotter than the sun! Left our dog back at accommodation and we were very glad .

Dogs don't sweat though so a breeze won't cool them down in the same way it does us.

They can only cool down via panting and their paws.

Best to get up early if your dog needs walking on a hot day. 5.30am is a rather lovely time to walk your dogs even if they are a bit surprised to be yanked out of their beds.

DataPup · 12/08/2024 11:18

I'd be comfortable taking my labs to the beach at 23/24 degrees, presuming you're going for a walk and a swim rather than a spot of sunbathing.

JamSandle · 12/08/2024 21:30

I wouldn't due to the heat.

If I lived near the sea I'd take them in the morning or early evening when it's cooler.

Blink282 · 12/08/2024 21:46

No. I’d wait until 7/8/9pm and enjoy a lovely cooler walk with them then.
