having a tumour removed as well as teeth last year decided to go up a gear.
butchers tinned for breakfast and more expensive complete biscuits in the evening.
harringtons for example currently on Wagg but this is causing terrible farts.

Mine's been on Harringtons for years and has never had issues - good, solid poos and no smelly farts or tummy trouble.

Lougle · 08/08/2024 08:05

We use Jolleyes Lifestage.

We're currently using Pooch & Mutt. If you sign up for emails they often send discount codes.

I'm not sure how it compares to other foods price wise but we bulk buy Millie's Wolheart which is way cheaper than smaller bags , they deliver for free quite quickly and there's no rubbish in it, I'd highly recommend it.
Also if you email them with your dog's details they will recommend the best food for them.

We've started buying Chudleys Classic from Moles (can order online) and it costs about £26 for a 15kg bag. We used to spend about £45 for 12kg so this feels like a steal. Not as good quality but still decent and suits our girl's sensitive stomach and isn't too crazy high in protein like a lot of them are (sends her bonkers)

I get this

My dog is such a fussy eater it's unbelievable, this is the only dry food I've ever got her to eat.

Skinners field and trial

LoveIsleOfWight · 08/08/2024 20:13

Jolleys life stage is really good for the price, I always used to get the salmon grain free one.

We had to change due to it being out of stock so often in our store and home delivery costs in our area were astronomical

I switched to pets at home wildways their version of wellness core or so the staff told me and it's really good as well.

Tails is awful stuff.

lovemycbf · 08/08/2024 21:22

Simpsons kibble is a decent meat content

Serenity45 · 09/08/2024 14:27

Another vote for Skinners Field and Trial

We use Harrington's dry with Harrington's wet on top it works for us

Rainbowstripes · 09/08/2024 15:36

Anything but Waggs! 🙈 Some of the garden centres near me have their own brand food which is actually really decent quality at a good price. You're looking for the first ingredient to be meat or fish, ideally not derivative. If the ingredients list is as long as your arm and you don't know what any of it is then that's not great either. Beyond that I'd just try one and see what works for your dog

Mydogisagentleman · 09/08/2024 15:41

My allergic boy has Lily's kitchen woodland wander.
The meat is game based and it's grain free .
He struggles with chicken and wheat

CompletelyLost24 · 09/08/2024 15:46

Autarky salmon. Usually between £26-29 a 12kg bag.

Main ingredient is salmon.

It’s not up there with Millie’s wolf heart et al, but we’ve found it a really good midrange food.

I think it partly depends on dog size- if your dog is 8kg then maybe the super expensive brands at £50 a bag don’t seem too bad… but if your dog is 30kg plus and gets through a bag a month then it’s a different matter.

We’ve tried various brands at different price points, and raw. The autarky salmon is a good compromise. No terrible farts, normal poos, etc. We have 2 labs, one aged 13 and one aged 9

We do too, sometimes Butchers wet food too for a change - she seems happy, our cats like it too 😂🐾 ... saying that she's usually trying to rob their food too 🙀🐾

RichieRich64 · 09/08/2024 16:55

My dog moved from Butchers Treat (not esp high quality) to Caesar because she just stopped eating the former. She loves the Caesar probs due to higher quality and meat content (vet says). We started with Royal Canin but she went off that in the end.

What she really wants is whatever we're eating 😄
