Diarrhoea from wet food

Our dog (cavalier x poodle, 1 year 4 months) has been having diarrhoea after she has wet food. She is on Orijen kibble and was on Butchers for a long while (it has a good rating on AADF). We’ve taken her off the Butchers and done a few weeks of purely kibble and her poo went back to normal. We thought we’d give Forthglade a go (it says good for sensitive tummies and also has a good AADF rating) but after one small meal she’s started again with the loose stools.
I know kibble is a perfectly good whole food but she really does love the wet food. It just doesn’t agree with her. Does anyone have any advice on how to solidify her poos please? Any really good wet food that might help?
Thanks!

of kibble and wet

any veg or fruit?

I had to take my cocker spaniel puppy off Forthglade wet food for the same reason and she's now just on Wainwrights kibble Sensitive type and is doing really well. I'm not going to bother with wet food

She has 45g of orijen and about 200g of whatever wet food we feed. Shes been having more like 70g of orijen and 50g of Forthglade since we started. She doesn’t regularly have fruit or veg. Shes not a fruit lover but loves carrot and broccoli.

She is spayed and of normal weight for her breed and age (7.5kg).

I also found my puppy was being overfed which made her have loose stools, lose weight and drink excessive amounts of water. I've cut how many grams of food I give her and everything has settled down and her condition is great now

Orijen is a complete food as you say. I’m not sure why you are wanting to feed her something that doesn’t agree with her.
Why not just give her some raw food occasionally?

breakfastdinnerandtea · 25/07/2024 20:11

That’s why we’re trying to do it gently, so it does agree with her. If this doesn’t work then we’ll probably give up and just stick with the orijen.
I guess I don’t know why we want to feed with wet too. A bit of variety for her I suppose? Benefits of both wet and dry rather than just dry.

What protein is in the Orijen? Could she have an allergy?

Forthglade & Butchers ( amongst others like Pedigree, Caesar etc) both caused problems for my one with the same bowel issues. A toy breed too.
She can’t eat chicken either. She does perfectly well on her kibble with a little bit of either tinned Chappie or cooked meat of any sort except chicken, a bit of what we’re having. She also has white fish or a little cottage cheese.
