Heart murmur in 6yo cocker

We are looking to rescue a dog and have been applying for a few suitable dogs from a spaniel specific breed (we have lots of experience with spaniels.)

A lovely suitable dog has come up but he has a heart murmur. This isn't something we've ever had experience with before. How much of a problem would it be or become (ie would we be able to get insurance?).

This is what his profile says:

'He has a slight heart murmur found during his initial checkup. He's since has a scan and the following has been confirmed - heart murmur is due to mildly raised aortic velocities and at this level isn't as functional/innocent heart murmur. It is of no clinical significance and will not cause any problems.

To me that sounds fine but DH is concerned. I'd love to give him a home regardless! We've not been getting anywhere with applications so it's a bit of a hypothetical situation anyway but I'm just curious in case we are super lucky.

Would love to hear any experiences of this.

I presume they wouldn’t state it was of no clinical significance if that wasn’t the case?
Is this information from a vet’s report?

Yes it is. I think no clinical significance would indicate it wasn't an issue at all so I think DH is concerned about nothing. But not sure if things may change as dogs get older. I know nothing about heart problems at all but Google isn't really throwing up the answers I'm looking for.

Has the rescue said they will cover the cost of any future issues (a good one will)?

Heart murmurs can be serious. But if they’re saying it’s of no clinical significance, I’d be more relaxed. That being said, I’d still want to see the vet reports etc, before I committed.

But, as I said, really this shouldn’t be an issue as a good rescue should cover the cost of any future issues stemming from the murmur (if anything were to happen).
