When do you know it's time?

16 year old terrier. Insulin dependent, blind and arthritis in back legs. Starting to get a bit confused and barking randomly. Night waking and getting lost, wandering.

Still eating/drinking independently and seems happy. Toilets outside. Can't manage a long walk but loves a stroll round the block.

Can't really be left during the day as barks continually.

Now isn't the time but when do you know? I can't bare the thought but I don't want her to keep going for us?

Any words of wisdom?

I don’t have dogs, but have had cats all my life, and I would say that you just know. I can’t explain it, but you can just tell that they are ready to go.
Hugs for you and yours @crackfoxy. It’s sad to lose a much loved member of the family.

I agree. It’s just a sense you get and you know. They’ll let you know too.

Thanks @IncognitoUsername @Trinity69 I keep having a little cry thinking about it. I'm just so worried I'm keeping her going for my own selfish need. We have a once over at the vets tomorrow so let's see what they say.
