Symmetrical fur loss

My 5 year old black lab has slightly thinning fur on both sides, the patches are around 30cm long and are symmetrical. It's not very noticeable, only in certain lights. Underneath her skin is a little bit dry/flakey but not scabby. Her fur is shiny and she has loads of energy, normal appetite and drinking. Last week she had a little d&v (but I'm not sure if it's connected because she will sometimes eat gross things on the beach that upset her stomach).
I'm going to take her to the vet, but I just wondered if anyone knew what it might be? Google says endocrine disorder, but she isn't showing any other symptoms so far.

I had a lab once with the same thing. The vet said it was hormonal. Didn’t cause her any issues, just had a bald patch down both sides. I seem to remember that it would grow back sometimes but I don’t think she had any medication for it.

@MuttsNutts thank you, that's interesting. Had you lab been spayed?

I walk a un-spayed collie who gets this down her sides - it seems to be linked to her seasons.

That sounds like a thyroid problem. I once had one diagnosed with this who had the very same symptoms.

@Thingsthatgo Yes she was spayed. And thinking about it some more, she definitely didn’t have any treatment for it. I’m going back about 30 years now mind. Vets didn’t do all the tests and investigations and medicate (and charge) for everything like they do nowadays. Not saying that’s a bad thing but if she’s not got any other symptoms, I’d get it checked out but really wouldn’t worry.

Our old dog used to have symmetrical alopecia - it got markedly better after he started on Bravecto.

Thyroid or hormones.

Thank you all. I shall see what the vet says, hope it's nothing bad.
