Does anyone know if they pay your vet directly? I know my vet practice accepts this but I don't know if my insurance would do this or if I have to pay the lump sum to my vet up front and then claim it back.

I'm on hold to the insurance co but have been for nearly an hour Grin

Many Pers will do direct claims, but you need to talk to your practice as Many Pets have in the past been very, very slow at paying and some practices no longer accept direct claims from them.

It doesn't just depend on your insurance company, it also depends on your vet practise.

Ours won't take direct payments from ManyPets as they often refuse or are too slow to pay out, unfortunately.

I’m with Many Pets. We have to pay first and then claim after. It can get tricky when it’s a hefty bill. Eating a raisin. Eye surgery.

sugarbyebye · 22/05/2024 15:03

we are with many pets and have to pay upfront. Sometimes they pay out quickly, but usually it's a couple of months.

Hoppinggreen · 22/05/2024 15:14

I am not with them but at my Vets there is a sign in Reception to say and Many Pets clients have to pay upfront and claim back so I assume there have been issues

BlueyAndBing0 · 24/05/2024 20:14

Just an update incase anyone else was wondering...I just needed an email from insurance explaining they were happy to pay upfront. Vet accepted. Saved me 4.3k. Phew.

I got manypets because I'd read on here that they were great for paying upfront. But now they're in financial difficulties? Ugh.

sugarbyebye · 25/05/2024 16:08

I didn’t know they were in financial difficulties? Oh dear. Insurance is risky business and the cost of medical supplies and equipment has really jumped, like everything else.

Mumofyellows · 25/05/2024 16:09

I'm with Many Pets as when I first got my dog they had a good reputation and offered decent cover. Now I pay £125 a month for my two dogs and am hearing horror stories. I am considering moving to PetPlan as my vet advertises them and will accept direct payments (I think) from them, but not 100% sure on how it works, we have never claimed, dogs have had a couple of minor issues eg an eye Injury for one which just required drops ( accident that healed) and the younger one had giardia as a pup which was treated by the vet. Worried these will class as pre existing conditions so not sure if I should move?

I didn’t know they were either! We are with them and if moved assume pre existing conditions wouldn’t be covered. And she has lot!

LizzieBennett73 · 25/05/2024 16:21

I've always paid the vet then claimed.

I've just cancelled my policy, robust and healthy sprocker spaniel aged 6 and only ever made one claim for a persistent ear infection when she was about 2. Policy has gone up to £68 a month, so I've cancelled it and will put the money in a savings account instead.

fieldsofbutterflies · 25/05/2024 16:26

@Mumofyellows anything you've ever seen the vet for will be classed as pre-existing, but with some policies you can apply to have them removed after a certain period of time, so it's still worth asking around if you want to move ☺️
