Please advised we have an almost 16 yo border terrier, otherwise fine no long term health issue but losing weight skinny and major incontinence now, peeing lakes and now in a plastic bed as started weeing in his bed and lying in it, I'm really struggling it's been 1.5 yrs now and I'm trying my best but have. Sick father and step father also dealing with and it's all getitng too much, he's otherwise fine and still manages short walks what do we do, how long do I need to keep going with him, feel so bad for him and for asking but I don't know what is the norm or not, is it fair on him is it normal to keep cleaning it up or is it time maybe?

PS she never soiled her bed but did start to go indoors towards the end.

@Words Oh so sorry about your little one 😢. The other thing with mine is she is a terrible eater and she is losing weight. She is less than a stone to start off with so can't afford to lose any. We are just taking each day as it comes as when we think we have made the decision and then she rallies round a bit! I've not seen a Jrt x Collie before. Did yours have the Collie intelligence and the Jrt feistiness?

Exactly that @Lou670 Smile
I only know the mix as I had her DNA analysed Blush
To everyone else - including her first vet who was a Scot and replied ( when I enquired earnestly what mix she was ) - she was a wee black dog

It's a difficult stage, I found that vets now don't seem to express an opinion about when the right time is, leaving you in a very conflicted situation, and its not always because you can't face losing them, for me I was worried morally that I was giving up because it had become too hard work . Actually looking back my dog hadn't had a good quality of doggy life for a long time. I wouldn't keep her going over the summer .

Thanks for the msgs on this all, we had Bobby put to rest mid Aiug, it was so sad! I miss him and it was a hard time but it was the best for him, it's just so sad they age so quickly isn't it, we're so lucky we get to do it again but they don't...we have had a new fur baby and I am so so happy with him, he's so loving too and has given me some purpose to get up everyday again and keep going as generally I'm having a hard time in my life too, dogs are so lovely and considering trying dog walking part time as I abs love it and could def consider it. Take care and thanks for the advice again it was for the best xx
