Fostering a future guide dog

Hi all you pet lovers, I am one too of course! So I am making initial enquiries about a volunteering role- fostering a dog that is undergoing guide dog training. Its a 26 wk commitment whereby the dog in training lives with us for this period. We would be responsible for it every eve and every w/e. During the week we would need to take and collect it from the training centre. All expenses are paid for. Has anyone done this? Anyone got any stories , both positive and maybe negative too?

We are currently puppy raising and may move to the short term fostering role after this puppy leaves us as had forgotten how hard tiny puppies are! We love him though.

@Surelythistime you can ask any friend to provide a reference for you or even just someone who knows you well like a colleague/ex colleague.

we are at the stage of booking a 'practical training' session, which is most prob be going to be at the end of this month , then we're good to grand will await our first dog!! Exciting indeed!
