Soft poo what supplement can I give.

My dog is a boxer with many allergies and pancreatitis. The only food she can now tolerate is Royal Canin. Three tins a day. She poops 3 times a day great soft stools and annoyingly her poo spot is under my washing line.

Because my elderly mum is in hospital I am also doing her washing. That equals 6 adults , one washing machine and 12 feet of useable line space. I am drowning in wet washing.

My dog’s toilets are so soft the rain has made them a big splat I can’t pick up. If they were firmer I could use more of my washing line.

Are there any supplements I could buy that would firm up the poo, slow down the gut transit? It just goes through her so fast and she is a skinny thing. Vet not concerned about her weight as plotting her weight she is stable.

Have you tried her on raw? Fish only would be good for pancreatitis and allergies (unless she’s allergic to fish!). Raw would firm up her poos dramatically.

Bones would also help. But finding the right kind for her dietary needs could be tricky. An ostrich bone could be a good choice as it’s a novel protein and very low in fat? https://www.jrpetproducts.com/products/large-ostrich-bone

Tummy Tastic from Proflax could potentially work as a supplement. You’ll have to check the ingredients for her allergies/pancreatitis though.

ProKolin is really good. You can get it off Amazon.

We use calcium bentonite clay

Canned pumpkin can work wonders but make sure it's plain and not the puree for pies.

Slippery elm

Pro Kolin - available online without prescription but also a stronger version available on prescription

My young dog was like this and turned out to be sensitive to chicken in Royal Canin. Now on salmon and rice kibble made by Pero, marketed under our farm shop label. I also give him YuMove probiotics and it's stabilised beautifully.

Sloppy poos can be caused by overfeeding ie the food gets pushed through the system before it's been fully dealt with, so maybe try cutting the amount back a bit.

Protexin fibre for dogs. I buy it on Amazon but you can get it from vets or food suppliers.
It is granules which I add to his food. I have one of my labs on it. A tub lasts a month.

Agree with 3beesinmybonnet it's very possible you're over feeding her. I'd be cutting down the amount you feed considerably if her poos are sloppy.

Are you giving her what is suggested on the can or packet? Because it's generally way too much.

My small dog is on Royal Canin Sensitivity. She weighs around 5.5kilo. The suggested daily amount on the can for a dog her size is 307.5g. She's actually eating 194g a day.

Her weight is at the correct amount, has been the same for a long time and at 13 years old she's fit and healthy, has a beautiful coat and her poos are firm.

She is inclined to have a slightly sensitive stomach so I have to be careful about not over feeding her.

She's on 'Pro-Fibre' a non prescription supplement that ensures she gets enough fibre in her diet and I've found that really helps to keep her poos firm.

I buy it from Animed Direct, it's a lot cheaper than buying from my vet.
