Dog drooling and not herself

We have an appointment at the vet this morning but just curious if anyone has experienced this and what the outcome was. For a day or two dog has been drooling more than normal and is not quite herself. Still eating (although drinking less) and active on walks but definitely subdued at home. I wonder if it’s something to do with her teeth/mouth because of the drool although nothing seems to hurt as I’ve been massaging and poking around with no reaction.

In case this helps anyone else, it was a bit of stick stuck in the roof of her mouth.

Ah sounds ruff!!. Luckily all ended well op. As a dc my ddog got a stick down her throat and exited out her neck. Very grim. Never thrown a stick since... Once pulled a spare rib bone from across dcats roof of mouth. Have scars to prove it..

Oh poor girl. Glad you got to the bottom of it. That happened to one of my dogs on a walk - she was pawing at her mouth so I guessed what had happened. No mean dear struggling with a hefty Labrador to get something out of her mouth!

I don't throw sticks but mine are always finding them to chew when they're outside 🙄

Yes, same @Hedgerow2 we don’t throw anything but she finds them everywhere we go! Off to buy a rubber stick from the pet shop to use as a replacement when needed.

I had to take a rubber bone off my worst stick chewer recently as she was breaking bits off and swallowing them. In fact I think it was a 'chicken flavoured' rubber bone 🙄.

I sometimes buy deer antlers or yak milk chews for her, but they're very expensive and she often takes them outside then loses them! Or you can buy softwood (olive?) chews from bigger pet shops.

Tesco also do a really cheap plastic bone (about £3) which is very hard and she loves to chew that but can't break bits off.

The only downside is her canines are wearing down a bit. But if I didn't give her stuff that's okay for her to chew she'd just chew stuff she shouldn't (I sometimes find chewing a log meant for the fire!)

Could have written the same post myself! Went to vets this morning. Vets diagnosed nausea and temperature.

(can’t remember whether his mouth was checked)

Was also told by a retired vet nurse never to throw a stick. She had seen a lot if stick injuries.

Just read the initial post and was going to say is it a bit of stick in the roof of the mouth because my dog had the same, then seen your update! Poor girl, glad she's sorted now!
