Is it worth it?

I haven't done it, but the company that sells it is Absolute Dogs. One of the directors took a lot of heat last year for her approach to breeding - many, many litters, basically puppy farming. One of the other directors resigned.

There was a thread on here about it.

You can probably get the pdf of the games if you do a google search. Its nothing magical

Anonanonanon1 · 05/04/2024 07:26

Yes, I've done it, and it's very good.
Whilst I don't agree with her puppy farming, which has now thankfully stopped, I do think there is lots to be gained from many of the online courses. This one is easy to follow.

I personally wouldn't give any money to AbsoluteDogs.

This.
There are other courses with less morally bankrupt individuals

Fab! Thank you!

I'm just looking for ideas, fairly new to dog life (had a GSD about 25 years ago - but omg so much has changed!) got an amazing 8yo Twatterdale X, who is normally very well behaved (his previous people did a great job and I appreciate I'm very lucky) however....

I am not sexier than a squirrel, not wascily wabbits or deer! And whilst recall is pretty sound - in the above instances he's deafer than me 😂

Any recommendations for fun things to do? I'm not (and don't want to be) on Facebook, just discovered YouTube - but there's so much out there it's a bit overwhelming!

We play a lot of ball, but kinda want to faze that out a little bit...

Thank You 🙏

If you're on YouTube, KikoPup is a great resource. I would also look at trainers like Kamal Fernandez or Jo Pay. They both have social media accounts.

I’ve got a few ideas from this book. It’s good for new owners, but has alot of stuff posted elsewhere.

yourtube
kikopup

will Atherton

instragram
southern dog training
Spirit dog training

Gwenny the working cocker - on instragram. Amazing dog trainer - not tips but amazing to watch

I did it a few months back with my (then) newish rescue dog with absolutely no prior training, following advice I was given here. I really liked it because it’s structured (I agree with you about internet overload and not knowing where to start), really short and simple and fun to do. I definitely think it helped my dog bond with me, learn to trust and play with me and want to stay close when out and about. I don’t think it would be enough on its own though, for recall, so I’ve also combined this with rewarding her every single time she looks at me when out on a walk (using part of her daily food allowance) and regularly and randomly calling her back to me 10 times or more a walk (sometimes I put her lead on for a bit, sometimes I don’t). I give her very special treats for this, and only this. She’s done really well. She’s returned from chasing a cat, finding a dead sheep, flushing a deer and being tempted to chase a cyclist, for example, and she never prances around like a twat, just out of reach, when I want to put her lead on. It is a very simple course, and the presenters are insufferably jolly, but I would recommend it.
