Dog refusing to walk tonight

Our one year poodle x wheaten terrier is refusing to walk this evening. She's normally the happiest liveliest little dog. Went for a 16km hike with me yesterday no bother. Was perfect this morning and then this evening is refusing to walk and biting at her right hind leg when she tries to walk. We took her to the on call vet. She's not sure what's wrong. No obvious trauma. No clinical dislocation. No fever. Seems bright in herself. Just won't walk. She was given anti inflammatory injection and opiod tonight and if no better going back for GA and Xray tomorrow.
Any one any ideas?

That distance is fine but you need to build up to it and then do it regularly, much like in humans to maintain fitness. I’ve just started running with my 18 month old border terrier and we’re building time/distance slowly. She’s raring to go the next day for a walk too.

Endurance has to be built. If she is still cautious on her leg I’d have her vet checked. Poodles and terriers can be prone to luxating patella which responds well to physio and exercises you can do at home.

@Newpeep that's interesting. If she's still cautious today I will get an appointment for tomorrow 🙏

How's your gorgeous girl doing, @Twodogsonthecouch ? I just want to boop that little nose in the first picture you posted 🐶.

@Justlovedogs . Thanks so much for thinking of her 😊. She's much better but she's still holding her back leg a bit stiffer. I had her back at my own vet today who said she has a tendon injury. She did some physio and acupuncture to loosen it out and has shown me some stretches to do over the weekend and she'll give her more treatment next week if necessary. She's not too worried about her though.
She thinks she might have twisted it to cause the injury and isn't convinced it's related to too much walking although did say she might have twisted her foot if she was tired.
Anyway short onlead walks only at the moment. Stretches over the weekend and more acupuncture/physio next week if necessary

@Twodogsonthecouch if you want to go for a very long walk, please feel free to take mine, and I will sit on the couch with yours? My idiot will do ten miles and still pick up his ball to play the second we get home.

Sounds like a plan. He's gorgeous 😊.
The vet did suggest a backpack for her if we were doing long hikes 🤣🤣.

Good to hear it's nothing too serious. A bit of rest and gentle exercise and it sounds like she'll be good as new.
One of my previous GSDs had a tendency to pull muscles quite frequently, but that was because he was huge (over 50kg) but loved to chase butterflies! He would jump and twist his way around the garden before coming in limping 🙄. I never bothered with the vet, just rest and gentle walking for a few days and he was fine again.
