Barking -tips to reduce

Our little boy is already nervous and reactive but we've been working on it during walks and he's now looking for a treat when he sees a scary bus/ van/dog/youth in black instead of barking
But in the house he's awful for people walking by. More specifically at night he goes mad from about 9pm. I think there's a cat on the fence at the back or a fox or
Something. Our lounge diner is one big room so we can't keep him away from the French windows easily. I've tried distracting with a toy which works to a degree but we have to be quick and as we can't see what he's barking at, we only have him launching towards the window and barking to indicate there's an issue. I've tried throwing treats to distract but it only works while he's sniffing them out. I'm inundated with "the secret to barking" reels and ads for around $20 but am cynical. Has anyone tried one with success ? Or got any other tips for barking. Dog was attacked on the pavement by our house so is particularly on edge if he senses threats nearby.
Now he's asleep in front of the fire and all relaxed but earlier he was very barky. Love him to death but need a method to train this fear barking out. Or move house !!

Long lasting chews (pizzles, ostrich legs)
licky mats

to distract him at the times that he barks

fabric crate so he can’t see triggers

Teach him to bark on your command. Then when he starts barking on his own free will, you just get his attention and do the bark command - I use a hand signal. You can then start controlling his bark. Sounds counter intuitive, but it works.

When he sees something at the window he barks and you reach for a treat or a toy to distract him. Could he be thinking you're rewarding him for barking.

We stopped our dog going this by actively all turning our back on her when she barked. When she stopped we all turned back and gave her a fuss. It took about a dozen attempts but when she'd got it she'd got it.

These are all interesting. Especially the bark on command. I'll have a read once my eyes are properly open. Thank you !
It's so cute when he starts to bark when one of my sons comes home and he hears them on the drive and the bark turns to excited whinnying and squeals once he realises it's them . He's such a gorgeous boy
