Should I get a new dog groomer

I’m not even sure if this is light hearted or not.

I’ve been with the same dog groomer for 4 years. She’s OK but not great.

Her personal Facebook profile appeared on my feed so more fool me I clicked on her profile only to discover that she is using it to highlight her personal trainer side hustle. But she has posted a series of, how should I say it, intimate and scantily clad photos revealing more than I want to know downstairs.

Now I’m not sure if I can look her in the eye again.

WWYD? Carry on as normal and pretend I know nothing or find a new groomer?

I have namechanged so not an “interesting first post 🤔” occasion.

I feel very awkward about this now but dog groomers are hard to find where I live and they either say there’s a 3 month waiting list or they say they’re fully booked and not taking on any new furry clients.

How often is your dog groomed?! Also has she put nude pics on Facebook?

Eighttwentyseven · 11/02/2024 19:31

About every 10 weeks but she is due for a clip.

Not exactly nude and I don’t want to go into too much detail but it’s TMI.

Argh my ddog was short haired so I only took him a couple of times a year. Erm you don't sound too please with her work anyway and I can understand why you feel awkward. Obviously enough so to ask on here so I would consider a new groomer tbh

I'd be inclined to stick with it for now and if you really find it uncomfortable (and you're not all that happy with the service) then either book in advance with a new groomer for the next cut or join a waitlist and hope for a slot to come up soon.

Do you usually book in advance or just as and when?

I keep track of how many weeks it’s been and then ask for short notice cancellation slots. I can usually get an appointment within 3 days.

Ah okay, so in that case you probably just need to weigh up whether you value the flexibility of being able to book last minute enough to power through the awkwardness you feel (bear in mind she's probably none the wiser that you've seen those images, and if she's using them to promote another business she's clearly not awkward about them herself anyway)

Personally my clients have always booked at least one groom ahead but I've just come back from mat leave and am now booked out for the year as they're all adamant they don't want to go anywhere else again.
So definitely worth thinking about getting in the habit of prebooking if you do decide you'd like to switch and all the other local groomers are booked up, otherwise you might find you struggle to get in at the interval you'd like at a new salon and end up having to go back to the current one anyway.

You don't sound happy with the groomer anyway so personally I would look for someone else.

I book a years worth of appointments in advance because my dogs love our groomer.
