Inadvertantly solved night waking in old dog

I have been complaining, seemingly forever, about ddog getting up in the middle of the night or long before dawn. Saw the vet, tried all sorts of suggestions without success.
Just before Christmas decided it was time to remodel downstairs bedroom to accomodate dd's tutors and therapists so that I could claim the living room/dining room back.
I was dreading it because Bella liked to sleep on the spare bed so expected even less sleep whilst she got used to the idea but the opposite happened once the bed had gone she decided to stay put on the sofa instead of moving between rooms.
So being inspired by this I moved the dog bed from the landing (alternative sleep spot) and put it in the living room as well. Result being she can choose between two sofas, an armchair a footstool and a dog bed all in the same room and I haven't been woken up in the night since. Who would have thought it?

So she just needed a choice?

I wonder if there was a heating click or airing cupboard noise as well trigging her to get up that she can't hear now?

Love it! Mine is better in cold weather. He prefers to be warm in bed than outside checking the goings on!

She needed less choice I think. She had free rein to choose where she slept but she would wake me up and then move spots, now she has multiple spots (always had the choice of spots in the living room) but they are now all in the same room so doesn't bother waking me anymore. She is generally in the same spot next morning nowadays rarely she is on the other sofa and never in the dog bed which I think is an ornament.

My last dog was similar. Slept in the kitchen his whole life. When he turned 15 suddenly started waking multiple times every night, barking, pacing, whining. Tried everything, made no difference. One night I just left him sleeping in front of the fire in the sitting room when I went to bed and problem solved! (Made no difference if the fire was lighting or not, he obviously just felt safer in the sitting room for some reason 🤷🏼‍♀️)
