elevated liver enzymes - old dog

We have an old dog (10+). We live in Thailand and the poor thing had been dumped in the jungle. He was found very close to death - starving, injured and sick with blood infection from tick bites. Anyway we fostered him (supposedly just for a few weeks - that was 16 months ago!) and he has been in pretty good health apart from slowly degenerating hind legs due to pressure on the spinal nerve. He's been doing OK with supplements and pain killers. Anyway, he'd been getting a bit growly and grumpy so took him to the vet to be checked. She drew some blood and was quite worried by the results. His ALP is 600 and his SGPT/ALT is 300. Way above normal levels. I have an appointment next week to bring him back for an ultrasound of his liver but in the meantime I'm googling and it doesn't look so good. Any ideas or advice as to what this might be until we get some answers next week?
The vet put up his painkiller dose and he does seem happier now.

I’m so sorry your old dog is in distress. Sorry can’t give advice as I’m not a vet, but it’s reassuring you are getting him there soon.

Thanks - guess we'll need to wait for the ultrasound. I'm just impatient to find out what's going on and get him sorted!

So he has an inflamed gall bladder. Vet thinks it's treatable with antibiotics. Seems to be one of the best possible options to explain his blood results.
