I've seen it in a sale and really want it for my living room... but I have a black lab. Am I nuts???

I think it maybe a regretted purchase as will easily spot the black hairs so feel like constantly need to vacuum and need quite a dense surface to keep the fur on top to make it easy to remove. Though it will likely be the random vomit that finally makes you crack as they always aim on the rug than a washable surface.

Dogdilemma2000 · 03/02/2024 11:56

You’re nuts. You’ll hoover it forever and never get the hairs out. Bitter experience of dark deep pile rug vs pale dog here.

lifeispainauchocolat · 03/02/2024 12:48

You'll regret it within about thirty seconds!

Buildingthefuture · 03/02/2024 12:55

Don't do it! And it’s not even about the hair, dogs just gravitate to rugs, so within a few weeks the rug inevitably smells like dog and you cannot get it out. I learned that the hard way 🤣🤣 Cheap short pile rugs in my house only now.

PrawnDumplings · 03/02/2024 17:22

Oh balls. I thought that's what you'd say 😭

Don't do it.
You know it would be madness.

donteatthedaisies0 · 03/02/2024 18:12

Yeah you would be nuts ! That's the sort of rug that's perfect for a spot of rug surfing that labs quite like to do . My girl would love it .

Do Ruggable do any washable cream deep pile rugs? I mean, it will be forever in the wash and you'll need a 'stunt rug' for when it is, but if you can get a washable one it fulfil your needs? (For the one day in seven when it's down).

I have had 4 rugs in my Goldie's life. She is 13 this year. The first one (bought pre dog) was red lambswool from John Lewis and cost over £600. Oh how we cried when that had to be binned. Since then the rugs have been increasingly cheaper, the latest one, bought after a D&V episode is the cheapest one Dunelm do for the size I want. As pp said upthread, they ignore wooden/laminate floors and head straight to the rug to vomit. Cream? No way.

Ddog is still quite young. So we haven't had many health issues yet thank goodness. But I hear you.

So a cheap one from Dunelm might be ok?

All the ruggable ones look very sparse to me.

Yes, simply because when it is ruined, it won't cost so much to replace.

WetBandits · 06/02/2024 23:09

I have a cream deep(ish) pile patterned rug and a ginger dog who sheds like mad! I chose a LaRedoute one with black spots on it though to disguise any dirt that might accumulate between hoovering.

Dunelm also do washable rugs (variably-housetrained terrier here) but not shaggy ones. But I do recommend their short-pile washable rugs!
