What could I use as a temporary dog fence?

A tree at the side of my house went over in Storm Isha, and landed on a shed which was already on its last legs with rot and woodworm. When the shed was removed it turned out that it was literally holding up the fence on that side (also quite rotten).

So now I have a side return, slightly over 2m wide, with no fence. Every time I let the dog out into the back garden he's going to go for a wander in the road (I know this because that fence has a door through it, and anytime that door is accidentally left open he's straight out). What can I use until I can get a new fence? It doesn't have to be particularly tall as he has little legs and can't jump very high.

You can get a roll of chicken wire type stuff j b&m / b&q / wicked etc

Or if you stay near any industrial type places they probably will have a couple of pallets they would be happy to give you

Chicken wire will be a good temporary fix

Chicken wire - but to be on the safe side I’d just take him out on the long line until your fence is sorted

Have a look for "Barrier fence orange" from screwfix. It's £17.50 for a 50m roll which is 1m high. You could double it up if you need to. They'll have it in B&Q too (they're owned by the same company as screwfix).

I just had a look at Screwfix, it's €45.95 here. Shock Chicken wire is under €30, so will probably be a better option.

All of your suggestions have indirectly led me to wooden trellis (which I was planning to buy later this year anyway as I want to grow some climbers). €6.99 each, I'll probably zip tie three together on their sides, and it's expandable so it'll fit exactly.

Wow. That's a big difference.
