When should I feed my dogs to stop them pooping overnight??

3 dogs. One is just 1 and others are 5 and 6.

They get fed at 9am and around 4pm. I take them for a poop walk at about 9pm but they don't poop, just pee.

Every morning I come down to shit in the living room.

It's really getting me down :(

They never poop inside in the daytime, they let us know they want to go out. But obviously can't do that when we're all asleep. I was even considering one meal a day, might that help? But smallest is a chihuahua and not sure that would be good for her.

Sorry but recommended doesn’t mean suits your dogs. Plus if they are a mix are they mixed with a higher energy breed? Plus you’ve said they don’t see the garden as somewhere to poo.
Separate them overnight or set up a camera so you can see which it is! It may be the puppy hasn’t learnt to be clean overnight or can’t hold it. In which case you need to sleep near them and take it out when it needs to go. Like with a little pup.

Clearly you cannot meet your dogs needs at the moment, hence the pooing overnight. You have 3 choices.
get someone to walk the dogs in the evening.
get rid of the dogs
Put up with the poo!

Nothing in OP's posts suggests she can't meet her dogs' needs. Her schedule just needs adjusting to accommodate the behaviour - it shouldn't be a big deal.

I started feeding my dogs raw and they only do a small hard poo once a day, it's great! You can get it in chub style packs so it's not like you're carving up organs and bones every day

The whole raw diet thing is very anecdotal. Not saying that owners such as @mapleriver are not having that experience, just that there is no scientific proof for it. In the UK the pet food market is regulated, so there should not be any significant difference in stool quantity or quality(!) between normal and raw.

I switched from raw to normal and have seen no difference in stools. I use Burns Complete dry if that is of interest.

As to the original question, @PoopDeDoo, per previous poster's questions, have you ever confined them at night? There are some good suggestions here. Also, is it possible to get your walker to come a bit later.

my dog is fed between 9.30 and 10 am after his morning walk and then again around 3pm with a couple of snack biscuits at bedtime. He only usually poops on his walk but sometimes he likes to go before it, so can be any time from 7 am -10 am

@HappiestSleeping There are plenty of people that notice much smaller more compact poos on raw, the quality is regulated but there's simply less waste with raw! My dogs have had the skitters on many top brands of dry for 14 yrs and I love the difference, thought it might help the OP 😉

I don't dispute that, but what they never say is what they were feeding before, how much etc, and what they've moved to.

As I said above, there is no scientific evidence that feeding raw is any more beneficial. The only scientific studies showed that the risk of cross contamination is higher for people who feed raw (e.coli, campylobacter etc).

That isn't to say it isn't better, just that it hasn't been proven to be so.

My own experience is as I said, and that between a proper raw diet, and a proper complete dry diet, there has been no difference. I'm not alone in that either.
