Standard Poodle

Could anyone with experience of the standard Poodle breed advise me if this would be a good fit for me?

I'm looking for a dog who is (likely to be) friendly, affectionate good with all other breeds of dog, as little shedding as possible, enjoys 1-2 hours of exercise a day, good with livestock, excellent recall, calm in the house (after puppyhood).

I know a lot of this is training and socialisation, but from what I've read the SP seems to tick the boxes but I wanted to hear from owners!

Thanks!

Re bitch/dog - always had bitches until I had one dog and oMG he is the sweetest. And no season is useful. So I would say it doesn’t matter, much more important to geo to a really good breeder, and if you want to know who they are or check the breeder of a pup you are interested in (I would say stick to champdogs for notification of litters) then you can always DM me.

No litters on champdogs that would interest me at the moment for eg.

@Devilshands we keep them on a kennel clip but with shaved ears and a natural tail. So not naked but definitely low maintenance! Then one wears a jumper if it's really cold Grin

Edited

A much better solution than making them naked 😅

I tuck mine up like burritos in a fluffy fleece on winter bedtimes when they have just had a trim 🤣

No I would not recommend a standard poodle. Especially if you're an inexperienced dog owner.

Could you say why?
