8 month old puppy not really eating.

For the last month or so my puppy hasn't been eating her food.

I've tried just about every brand, dry and wet food.

The vet isn't concerned as she is a good weight and is exercising regularly, still doing her business regularly etc, I do have her booked in for another check up next month to keep an eye on it.

She does a lot of training (big breed so I train multiple times daily) and I give her high quality treats whilst training, but not nearly the amount she should be eating per day.

She is my first pup so I don't know if this is normal.

Any wise words from anyone more experienced would be very welcome.

Thank you.

Could she be due her first season?
Mine went right off her food a week or two before hers

Oh I never thought of that, her breed tends to be between 10/16 months for their first, but I guess 8 months wouldn't be ridiculously early.

I'm not really sure what to look out for symptom wise so I'll go have a Google and see what it says, see if she has any other symptoms of coming into season.

Thank you.

Our pup went off his food at a similar age. We changed to Butternut box (mixed with kibble to reduce costs) and he’s been fine since.

if interested, I can send you a Butternux code to reduce the cost.

He’s a lab.

My beagle went through a very similar phase at that age - I think it's very common.

We seemed to solve it by picking a brand we knew he liked and ate, putting him on a schedule of two meals a day and giving him 20 minutes to eat his meals. If he didn't eat, we didn't make a fuss, just removed the food and he got nothing else until his next meal time.

I would also start using her normal food as a reward rather than really high value treats. Otherwise you potentially end up in a position where they refuse their meals in favour of the better stuff.
