Tesco pet insurance

I’m just wondering if anyone on here has used Tesco pet insurance and what their experience has been? Currently with Many Pets for one dog and two cats but monthly payment is shooting right up. No pre existing conditions or anything to be concerned about so I am looking at other options.

I understand Petplan are viewed as the best and they are one of my options based on their quote, however, Tesco have come in really reasonable with their top cover.

Thanks in advance 🐾

We were with Tesco and they were fine (made several claims) but as Ddog1 (pedigree) got older the premiums were getting ridiculous (£1.8k pa) so we moved to another insurer who just covered any new ailments.
Last year we worked out that the premium + excess + %payment meant even this wasn't worthwhile so now we just cover the vet fees ourselves.

Ddog2 (crossbreed) is insured through Sainsbury's so we will see what happens to those premiums as the years progress.

We're with Tesco and have never had any issues.

We had Tesco for our previous dog and the premiums went up stratospherically once she was over the age of about 3. They did sort out a mix up with a payment to the vet very quickly though (we’d paid but the vet had also claimed on the insurance) and the service we received when she died was extremely sensitive and efficient. But then, we’d paid enough out over the years so I’d have been annoyed if it wasn’t!

I've had all four if my cats insured with them. Can't fault them at all. My first two ran up
Bills of £25k and all settled quickly with no fuss.

I'm looking at insurance too - torn between Tesco and The Post Office which I can't believe either pet insurance! What am I missing if I don't use PetPlan and do use Tesco? Apart from an extra £12 a month?

A lot of vets will pay direct to PetPlan, whereas with other companies you may be required to pay upfront then claim it back. Our vet will pay direct to Tesco though so it's worth asking.

We use Tesco for a 3 year old mixed breed dog. He has allergies and is on Apoquel, which is fairly expensive.

So far, I think we get more reimbursed than we pay in premiums, so every year I expect a big jump but it hasn't happened yet.

I pay the vet myself, submit the receipts online and usually get reimbursed within a couple of days.

No complaints.

We moved from Directline to Tescos as it was significantly cheaper. Our dog was subsequently diagnosed with Epilepsy and have found the Tesco claim process \ payment very easy to use. Will be interesting to see what the renewal quote is when the time comes, but very happy so far.

Tesco Pet Insurance was recommended to me by our vets, we've made several claims with no issues. Apparently they regular have problems with Many Pets

I will NEVER use them again..
Our DDog was diagnosed with kidney failure and put on special tinned food which cost about £50 a week..
But the insurance company said they were 'supplements' so we were not covered.. even the vet tried to argue with them that it was prescription food but no..
We'd paid about £5,000 insurance premiums over our DDogs life and felt completely let down when we needed it..
So Tesco can do one...
And on another note... after a tearful phone conversation with them about it (we were actually having Ddog PTS the next day.. which the young man knew) I was told 'enjoy the rest of your day' !
