Becoming allergic to dog?

Has anybody become allergic to their dog? I have a mild cat allergy and my 3yo long haired gsd seems to have started setting me off as well. Itchy eyes for the past few months after stroking her and fluffing her up a bit, but a tickle in my throat has started in the past few weeks as well, much like I get when I'm around both of my siblings cats 😫 I'm going to chat to my doctor about it in the new year but want to know if there are any options to managing it in the long term before I see them as I don't want to be fobbed off with a "just give her up" as I'm not willing to consider that unless it became a serious issue!

I’m allergic to cats and I find if I rub my eyes after touching my dog I get itchy. Generally try to avoid touching my face or wash hands if I’ve been cuddling him.

I take piriton daily to stop me reacting to my dogs.
Also beconaise nasal spray

That is interesting, I thought it was odd that cat allergy seems to be turning into a dog one but maybe not uncommon?! I will try to pay better attention to washing my hands immediately after scritching her, I've been banned from touching both of my sister's fluffball cats because I kept setting myself off!

Thank you, that's very helpful! I'll get myself some antihistamines tomorrow and look for the nasal spray.

If you have a tendency to allergies, new ones can pop up at any time. However they can go away too!

I have a break from antihistamines over the Winter due to the association with urinary incontinence.

I've developed a very irritating dry, tickle cough. More like an irritation in my throat that keeps making me cough and I'm having to use my inhalers more.

It did occur to me yesterday that I might be becoming allergic to DDog.

My brother has had cats and dogs all his life but has now become allergic. He has to take an antihistamine every time he comes to us. Our Labrador sheds fur over the entire house.
