Neighbour keeps buying new dogs

I am so ridiculously pissed off with my neighbour. She's a single mum of 6 so her house is pretty hectic and she works full time.
She's now on her 3rd dog in 18 months.
First was a German shepherd that she rehomed to family when it was 4 months old as it was too boisterous round the kids.
Next was a Boston terrier. This lasted a few months and was re homed somewhere.
Now she's just bought another dog. From what I've seen looks like a rotty puppy. She's on Facebook begging people to dog sit while she's at work as she's leaving this puppy home for 9 hours a day.
I can hear it barking and screaming in the house. I can't help as I work during school hours and have my own dog that I pay to go to dog daycare.
Nowhere here will take dogs under 6 months and to be honest I'm just pissed off that she's gone and bought yet another dog knowing she can't look after it properly.
I can just imagine this one will be re homed in a few months. Poor little pups.

I wish we could fix stupid, but we just cannot :(

If the dog is making lots of noise, you can report to the Council, maybe she will rehome it someone who can actually care for it before it's behaviour is trashed from being left alone while its still a baby :(

Serious cannot fix stupid. Or selfish. She's clearly got issues of restraint. 6 kids AND she gets a dog. I can't even.

I'd put a note through the door mentioning the dog whining all day.
Then report to RSPCA.
I'd also call the council as they should be able to deal with it as a juice nuisance. They usually send a letter first but sometimes to come out to visit.
Poor dog.
Hopefully she'll realise its a terrible idea. The poor dog is probably being harassed by the kids.

doingmaheadin · 13/12/2023 18:38

I don't think the rspca will do much. They have very low standards when it comes to pet care. As long as they are fed and have shelter they don't care about much else.
Yes I may go down the noise complaint route though.
Honestly she's a stupid stupid woman.

Sounds like another Price .

Neriah · 13/12/2023 18:56

Yeah, right, 6 kids, multiple dogs, single parent, works full time.. if you can fit in "small boats" you get a prize.

doingmaheadin · 13/12/2023 18:59

Why would I make this up? Her 6 kids range from 6-16. She has her own cleaning business. And a love of disposable dog ownership.

Definitely make a noise complaint! Keep a log of all the times the dog barks for and how long.

My husband and I had to do this as our elderly neighbour kept leaving her dog outside at night and the poor thing would bark for an hour until my husband got fed up and knocked on her door. It went on for three weeks before we put in a noise complaint, a letter was sent out and the dog hasn't woken us up by barking since.

We also got a form to fill out with how often/how long the dog barked for but luckily didn't need to use it.

She is neither stupid nor selfish she obviously has mental health issues.
She needs help not a gossiping neighbour.

You are likely not making it up. I can see the mention of her full time job being relevant. But her having six kids and being a single mum hardly matter in rhe story. The revolving door of dogs would be concerning even if she was married or in a throuple, this one kids, no kids or with 16.

Copperoliverbear · 15/12/2023 04:18

Call the rspca

EdithStourton · 15/12/2023 09:29

The number of kids is absolutely relevant, as is her single status: it shows how much she has on her plate and how little time she will have for a dog.

If the kids' father was at home all day, it would be a different story. Or if there was a 16 year old who worked evening shifts after the mum got home.

boozeclues · 15/12/2023 09:37

I think the single parent to 6 kids is relevant, plus working full time, it sounds hard and chaotic - why would anyone in that position add yet more and entirely optional responsibilities to manage in their lives?

if this was a single woman who live alone, you could put it down to wanting company, etc

But brining in family pets to a house full
of children when you know your not able to look after a pet is down right stupid and unfair in the children and the dogs

doingmaheadin · 15/12/2023 12:35

That was exactly my point. The house is chaotic with 6 kids, and then finding time to train a puppy must be a nightmare.
