17 month old weeing at night

Hi everyone,I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. I have a 18 month old german shepherd. She was a little harder to potty train than any other dogs we've had and taken a little longer. We also have a 3 year old dog who is fully trained and was very easy to train. None of our dogs are crated and to be honest we don't really have the space for large crates either. They have the living room and kitchen for space during the day amd I keep the kitchen door open at night as my pup likes the cool floor. However, a month ago she started to wee in the living room in the same spot. I've been using the carpet cleaner with enzyme shampoo and she stopped. Then she started again and this week it's been every night in a different spot. I've got a playpen a iuse for my rabbits that's I've brought in and tried to block off some of the living room, but so she still has her bed and sofa and kitchen (see never does it in the kitchen) there are times I sleep downstairs due to me struggling to sleep or dp snoring and these nights she doesn't wee at all. She never wres when we leave the house it's just at night. She's been the vets last week for her booster and they've said she's healthy. The only other change is I've had to bring my small rabbit indoors for a while due to having my garden done and I'm not able to get to where the rabbits live and there is nowhere else in the garden for them to fit amd because of the weather the garden is now on hold leaving me with the rabbit indoor for winter. She gets on with the rabbit but I know he can be a little noisy at night sometimes and wandering if this may be the cause. I'm really in a pickle and really don't want to crate her as I've not got the space but she wouldn't settle ina crate at all as she tends to go between the cool kitchen floor and her bed during the night. I've tried putting her toys around the room so there's nowhere for her to wee and this worked at first until she found a new spot. How can I stop this? Is it her age? She's been the worst out of all the dogs we've had to potty train and I've done nothing different. Tia

When one of mine did it it turned out ti
be an UTI. ABs sorted it.

Can the vet do un urine sample dip?!

Where is the rabbit being kept? If she's weeing on the living room floor can't you just shut her in the kitchen overnight?

DustyLee123 · 12/12/2023 07:00

First thought is UTI, so rule that out. Next thought is separation anxiety, as she doesn’t do it when you sleep downstairs.

Keep her in the kitchen away from the rabbit if the two are connected.

Vets might be infection or need tablets for over active bladder or something. X

Thanks for your replies. The rabbit is in the kitchen. She's never weed in the kitchen, ever. She does sometimes lie near where the rabbit is. My older dog had a uti when she was a pup and she weed on and off in the day or would try to wee and nothing came out so as my pup is mainly doing it at night I assumed it wouldn't be a uti but if a uti can cause weeing solely at night then I can ring the vet. She never does it in the day and never when I'm downstairs. She went months without doing it then started in one spot and I came down this morning to another spot where she's never been before. I have thought about putting her in the kitchen and rabbit in the living room temporarily but if I do that I think she may start whinning in the night because she does like to lie near him and also because she's in one space and does like to climb on sofa at night sometimes. She doesn't go on the sofa at all in the day but does take the comfort at night sometimes. Would going back to basics and letting her out In the night help or do you think I'm making a rod for my own back? I go bed around 11 and up at 6. She always wees when Iet her out before bed. I was thinking separation anxiety too. I try my best to not come down at night when I can't sleep so I don't make the situation worse. Last week ot was twice but this week it's been every night except the night I was downstairs. The playpen is really big so I could try block off the areas she doesn't need to be and leave free the sofa, her bed and doorway. If this is separation anxiety, how can I get around this. I've got camera in the living room from when she was little so we could keep an eye on her and still use them now when I'm out and she always seems settled in her bed, sofa or kitchen. She does look out the window now and them but that's it, no problems at all.

I don't understand why you keep giving her access to living room when she keeps peeing in there Confused
