Night time toileting

My 1 year old rescue of 2 months house trained quickly but recently regressed with night time weeing and pooing & not sure how best to resolve.

He sleeps downstairs in the living room free range of downstairs/landing but we do try and make sure he's settled and in his bed before we go off to bed. He hates being left alone in the day so could be separation anxiety when he's waking & unhappy on his own in the dark or just a habit but either way any ideas how to resolve? Plenty of daytime walks plus one last thing at night when he always wees and poos (10:30ish and then bed 11 until he wakes us c.7am).
Mealtimes 7:30 & 5pm not health concerns. DH won't have him sleeping upstairs (he comes up to wake us but otherwise never goes upstairs) and crating not an option.

Should we preempt with toilet break in the night? I know you do this with puppies but he can (& presumably should be able to )last the 8ish hours of night.

He really shouldn't be left alone all night if he has separation anxiety - you're just setting him up to fail.

He needs to sleep in a bed in your room. If DH won’t have him in with him, is there a spare room you can have for you and the dog?

OK well definitely separation anxiety induced as last night I left our door open and in the middle of the night he came upstairs and settled on the on the floor next to me - not a peep until morning and no mess! Sounds like it's DH I need to work on not DDog!

At least if you know what the problem is you can fix it ☺️

Lots of people are against dogs in beds or bedrooms so if your DH is one of them then you'll probably need to figure something out long term - maybe baby gate across your door so he can sleep outside and see/hear you?

We gave in and just let our beagle sleep in the bed 🙈

Our first couple of nights with our rescue she slept downstairs and was unsettled at night. She wasn't weeing or pooing, but we could hear her roaming around a lot and an occasional whine. We didn't want her to sleep in our room but we moved her bed up to the landing outside our room. Even with the door closed she completely settled and since then runs upstairs after her nighttime wee and puts herself to bed.

Ah bless him. I don't do dogs in bedrooms tbh but I've never had a rescue and you want them to be settled.
