Total Recall

I am currently working way through this with my 14 month old lab. We are doing it to the letter but my lab is bloody greedy it is hard to wait for her to be distracted in the house to practise because she follows me around knowing treats are likely. She hears me pick up the whistle even!

Has anyone done this method and did you stick religiously to it especially the first bit? I am wondering whether to skip forward but don't want to wreck it. My lab seems to clearly understand whistle means food.

Wear your whistle round your neck, then she can't hear you pick it up.

This ☝

Also, throw treats away from you to move the dog away, then whistle to make her come back (if you haven't already tried this?)

If she knows the difference between 'wait' and 'stay' you could also try getting her to 'wait' on her bed (or some other place in the house / garden), then calling her to you with the whistle.

Yes to wearing the whistle around your neck.

Then practice recall at every opportunity.

You can "create" situations or just go with the flow like letting dog into the garden & call back inside. I would also scatter some dry dog food on the floor and practice leave/ recall with something far more tasty & interesting!
The most important thing is you call & treat something tasty. If she anticipates you calling her you can still reward the behaviour (if you actually wanted to call her) but give a lesser treat like kibble.
