I’ve noticed ddog shaking his head a little the last couple of days. I’ve had a look at his ears and one looks a bit gunky and the skin a bit flaky . He’s up to date on his flea and worm stuff etc and seems other wise fine. Do we need a trip to the vets? Never had any issues before, he’s 8.

I would definitely take your dog to the vet. My dog got a grass seed in her ear in August. This lead to a really bad ear infection which has only just cleared up. Best catch it early before it gets even worse.

I agree, it's a trip to the vets.

we have been to the vets. Ear infection. He’s had some slow release antibiotic stuff put in so hopefully that will have him sorted 🙂

Once it’s cleared up get some Thornit powder.
Old school remedy but really works, dust a little bit using a makeup brush inside the ear flaps, without letting it go down into the actual ear canal, twice a week.

I second Thornit -very little is needed as @Darklane says.

It’s got quite a pungent smell (think TCP) but the smell doesn’t linger.
