Centreparcs and dogs

Hi just wondering if anyone has been to centreparcs and taken their dog. There are no pet friendly lodges for when we want to go, do I have to use these? Or could we take her and book a normal lodge? Would they know or care?

I don't think they would know or care tbh. I've taken my dog a few times

Colalola · 12/11/2023 00:19

Thank you!

They should care if some of their customers are allergic to pet hair…

MsBea · 12/11/2023 00:22

Don't be so selfish. Please leave dog-free lodges for those of us who are allergic.

Reggiebo · 12/11/2023 00:22

Yes was just typing this. Pet hair allergy.

SM4713 · 12/11/2023 00:22

The next guest might care if they have an allergy and you might be sent a large cleaning bill when they find dog hair everywhere!

SocialLite · 12/11/2023 00:38

They've made people leave and banned them for this. As someone with allergies, I understand why.

margotrose · 12/11/2023 07:56

Don't be selfish and give dog owners a bad name.

Use a pet friendly lodge or don't take the dogs.

rookiemere · 12/11/2023 07:58

Pet friendly lodging costs about the same as booking the dog to go to a boarder for time, dogs aren't allowed inside so there are very little places they can go.

They check your car for number of passengers when you come in X

  • I would hope they would spot an unpaid for hound. There are many dog welcoming places these days, don't sneak yours into one that actually prioritises people.
BethDuttonsTwin · 12/11/2023 08:01

I’ve taken my dog several times. They’ll know. They have room/chalet service each day and even if you tell them not to bother so you can hide the fact you’ve brought your dog, it’s still a crappy thing to do. Where do you plan to hide him/her on arrival? Under a coat? In the boot? Put a hat on it and pretend it’s one of the kids? You’ll spend your whole time stressing about being “caught”. Don’t do it.

Ilikewinter · 12/11/2023 08:02

How are you planning to sneak the dog in? Please either book appropriate accommodation or book somewhere else.

Hellocatshome · 12/11/2023 08:04

Are you always this selfish? There is a reason many places not just centre parcs have specific dog friendly accommodation.

WillyWalker · 12/11/2023 08:10

We've taken both our dogs to Center Parcs staying in pet friendly accommodation. As another pp has said, there is nowhere to take your dogs. The dog walking areas are really small, the exercise place is smaller than a back garden, they aren't welcome in any of the pubs, cafes, shops - anywhere in fact.
Also, the lodges are really close together. One of your neighbours who doesn't want to be allocated to a pet friendly lodge (and won't have been) would see your dog and wonder why they've been incorrectly placed then rightfully complain??

Mindymomo · 12/11/2023 08:11

As a dog owner, it’s irresponsible to go and stay somewhere that isn’t a dog friendly place.

Brendabigbaps · 12/11/2023 08:15

When you check in they cross reference the people in cars with the booking, unless your stuff is tiny and you can hide it you won’t get it in.
as others have said CP is not really dog friendly, more dog tolerant.
if you want to book a dog lodge you literally have to book when the date you want are released, so around 18mths in advance

Yes and you can't let them off lead anywhere. It's rubbish for dogs tbh so I'd never go for longer than a weekend

Morecladding · 12/11/2023 08:18

They check your car on arrival. And no you should only book pet friendly lodges anywhere, obviously. I wouldn't take a dog to Center Parcs, there are a few very small areas where a dog can be off lead they must be kept on a lead everywhere else. I'm sure your dog would be much happier left in doggy care.

Morecladding · 12/11/2023 08:20

When I've had problems with neighbours, security have been very on it. They wouldn't hesitate to ask you and your dog to leave.

carddino · 12/11/2023 08:20

Absolutely need a pet lodge.

As PP said they check the car and even if you got by that someone would notice.

Lots of people at CP go all the time and would report that for sure. They can tell you exactly which lodges are dog friendly.

Then you would be asked to leave.

catoutthebag · 12/11/2023 08:22

We went to centre parcs without our dog and I'm so glad. The area that they can be let off in (a small fenced section) is rubbish and you can't really take them anywhere else really. They'll be left in the lodge most of the time. I did also see a review where someone took their dog and tried to get them into a non pet friendly lodge and were refused entry and a refund.

MrsPatrickDempsey · 12/11/2023 08:30

Wow! I can't quite believe that you would give no consideration at all to the people who will have the lodge after you. Some of us have severe dog induced asthma. It's just ignorant.

Ylvamoon · 12/11/2023 10:57

Don't do it! For all the reasons above and all the hassle and fines you'll get when they find out.

Can you go on a different date? Or get a dog sitter. I have 2 dogs and love holidays with my dogs, so please don't spoil it gor me.

Floralnomad · 12/11/2023 11:12

You absolutely need to book a pet friendly lodge as you will get reported ( and rightly so) even if you manage to get in in the first place . Also you cannot do anything with the dog so are better off going without it .

So unbelievably selfish if you do this. I hope you get caught.

Morechocmorechoc · 12/11/2023 11:24

I have severe allergies as do many others. don't be so selfish. The lodges not allowed dogs are not allowed dogs and its fir good reason. Changes the cleaning pricess as well. Get a pet friendly one earlier enough in advance or the dog doesn't go.
