Grooming nightmare

My poor shihtzu has been hacked to bits by an awful dog groomer. She looks a mess but my biggest concern is a large sore under her chin which is like “razor burn”. I will take her to the vet tomorrow but wondered if I could put something like germolene on it this evening to soothe it. It’s under her chin so she won’t be able to lick it but I don’t want to hurt her more.

Dilute hibiscrub is good for cleaning cuts and scrapes on dogs.

I'm sure someone will say otherwise but I've been putting sudocream on dogs for 50+ years. I prevent them from licking it.

It's actually very easy to give a dog clipper rash if you clip the coat right down to the skin - it looks awful but usually dries up and heals v quickly if the dog doesn't make it worse, so if it's looking drier in the morning and there is no further damage she might not need the vet (I am a vet!) I don't see a problem with a little bit of sudocreme either, or just bathing it with some warm salty water if there is excessive seeping, otherwise leaving it alone. If she rubs or scratches it she could make it very sore, but if she leaves it alone for 48 hours or so it should settle ok unless it's exceptionally bad.

Poor little girl. How is she now?

I agree with the sudocrem. A little bit in the rash should be ok. Clipper and brush burn usually clears up pretty quickly.

Everytime my dog has been to the groomers he looks like he's been hacked into and we get to pay a lot of money for the pleasure !! If hairdressers did it to our hair we would be complaining ...
I know it's not the point of the post but I wonder why dogs end up looking dreadful when they come from the groomers .
