"Force free" Trainer creates a situation where the dog is set up to fail then whacks the dog

Look how terrified he is from body language ( tail between legs / cowered posture)

I've already complained to the kennel club and suggest you do the same

The owners have already complained, quite rightly, and posted the video on Instagram.

How much more of a social media mob are you hoping to whip up?

Hopefully any 'mob' will be rallied against the KC itself not individuals within. The KC have a lot to answer for in my book, setting breed standards that mean dogs can't run, breath or see easily. Some breeds are a walking definition of animal cruelty and the KC should be ashamed.

Oh I have zero time for the KC, believe me.

I already have zero time for the KC , yet people constantly push their material so think there needs to be visibility !

TBH this isn't an issue with force free training, but with that individual trainer. Assuming they are APDT accredited, they would need reporting there by the people who were in that class.

Force free training with kindness works great, if applied by a responsible and accredited trainer. A good positive trainer would never have done what this trainer did.

Unfortunately anyone can set up as a trainer.

I teach agility at a KC club. I take my pup to the obedience GC scheme at the same one which is run by an APDT qualified instructor and is reward and games based. To set up as a KC club you just have to do lots of paperwork. They do have their own training scheme but it’s quite fiddly. They will say ‘thanks for letting us know’ but likely do nothing.

It is worth contacting them but I’ve seen far FAR worse in non KC clubs. I’ve ‘rehabilitated’ dogs in agility who have been strung up and hit for barking at a local business. I’ve seen stones in bottles and water sprays and many dangerous things. It’s about time training was regulated.

Fully agree !
