I have a rescue who was on a raw diet when I got him. We switched for two reasons. Firstly, one of my family has immune issues, and there is a risk of cross contamination. Secondly, if we want to go camping, the logistics of raw are a challenge.
I did some research about whether there is any scientific evidence about raw being any better but I couldn't find any. The only thing I could find confirmed that there is a considerable risk of cross contamination.
All the stories of smaller poo etc are anecdotal. Since switching to a quality dry food, I have seen no difference in poo / flatulence etc which IMHO would be expected if the dry food is good quality and has no filler.
Also, I am able to use the dry food for training and can control his intake more readily than with raw, and can fill kong toys etc with it. All in, a definite win I'd say.
I live in the UK where there are minimum standards for all dog foods if that makes any difference. I switched to Burns complete.
