Hello. Please can someone suggest what this is??? It was half lodged under some skin on my dog's tail. I thought it was a worm so tried to pull it out with tweezers but it squished in half. Then I pressed on the skin and the other half came out. It definitely wasn't alive, I'm not sure if it ever had been ConfusedConfusedConfused what a Friday night.

It looks rather like a small cyst that has burst, I would squeeze gently to see if more comes out, trim the hair back and bathe with some warm salty water. I had a Guinea pig with something similar and the vet said I could pop it myself and treat at home.

See how it looks in the morning when the vets open.

I think you could be right actually, there was a little bit more white puss type stuff. That would make sense. Thank you!

It’s a comedone, basically a blackhead, sebum, debris and bacteria collected in a hair follicle. The contents of a cyst are more like cottage cheese, and are smelly. Cysts are never recommended to be dealt with at home, they’re much more dangerous as they’re essentially a pocket filled with bacteria, deep in the skin, comedones are superficial, and don’t typically reoccur.
