I don't own one.

I thought people might find this article useful.

Problem is, ban them and they’ll move on to deforming another breed.

I suppose so. I'm up for banning them. But I also think it's a cynical vote catching ploy.

Personally I think there is a more underlying issue regarding owners. Where I live you must register your dog and pay a dog licence fee, minimum for all dogs. Certain breeds are banned outright, like Pitbulls, other breeds you must pass training certifications to own those breeds and pay more for the dog licence, also certain breeds like the American Bully the owner must have liability insurance. It does mean people must consider more carefully what breed they are buying and can be fined before harm is done.

The Bully isn't a recognised breed so it would difficult to ban. As it is Pitbulls are around, but labelled as Staff/Lab crosses or similar instead, this would obviously happen with a Bully too.

Some of them in the uk have been bred in dodgy circumstances, apparently.

Personally, I'd like to see a major crackdown on backyard breeders and the sale/exchange of pets on gumtree and Facebook. Ban the breeder, not the breed, seems to be the only way to prevent breeders from moving on to the next breed to get around BSL. The problem with any legislation is how to enforce it, I just don't think they'd have the resources or staff.

That's a good point.

For nearly 20 years we averaged 3 dog attack deaths a year, since 2020, we’ve had the typical 3 deaths (various breeds and circumstances) with an additional 7 deaths related to various bull/bully breeds. 70% of dog related fatalities attributed almost exclusively to the newly introduced pit bull mixes (XL Bullys) and American bulldogs. It’s not a coincidence, and it’s not fake news designed to demonise a particular breed. Clearly it’s a lie that they just move on to another breed, or it would have happened a lot sooner than 20 years after the pit bull ban. And if it’s not a lie, the breeds they moved on to must be more psychologically stable than these abominations or you’d have seen a marked increase in deaths from dobermans or Rottweilers or something, but the fact is, the death rate was pretty stable and had deaths caused by anything from jack Russell terriers left alone to maul days old babies up to a Doberman accidentally killing its epileptic owner during a seizure, by attempting to pick her up by the back of the neck as the dog would a puppy in distress.

Frankly, I don’t like how absolutely hideous they look, so I’m not a fan of them anyway, even if they weren’t so obviously volatile, but I also wouldn’t mind them existing at all if they weren’t killing and attacking people in disproportionate numbers.
