My dog achieved a long strived for personal goal on Tuesday

For most of his life, after he has been fed by one family member, he has tried to convince other family members that he hasn't had dinner yet. We've had him for 12 years so you'd think he would have given it up as a lost cause by now. On Tuesday DH fed him about half an hour early because he had to take DD to football training. However he didn't mention it to me. So bang on dinner time (the dog has the best internal clock of anyone I know) the dog asked for dinner and I fed him. Grin

I would normally have checked with DH, but because he'd left half an hour before dinner time and because DH knew I was in the house I assumed that he had assumed that I'd do it.

The dog has since re-doubled his efforts, because if it worked once ... Grin

Photo, because that's obligatory, right?

Lol smart dog

And I bet you really enjoy it when the clocks go forward/ back…. Explaining daylight saving and the effect upon dinner to canine family members never works ime.

Edited

We move dinner time by 15 minutes a day for a later time, he has no objection to being fed early when it’s earlier. 😁

Our dog is always trying this trick with his dental chews , he can’t do it with dinner because he has the rest of the pack from breakfast . Congratulations to your dog @BlackAmericanoNoSugar .

Well played that dog, well played 😆Achievement of your life’s goal must feel so satisfying!
My lot have pulled this off on occasion, but only when Grandma is staying…..she will feed them because they “look hungry”, so they sit around her, in a circle, looking hungry and hopeful ALL. THE. TIME 🤣🤣🤣

BookwormDadUK · 08/09/2023 16:38

Congratulations to a very very cute dog.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 08/09/2023 16:46

My dog would be jealous but he has 2 dinners every day (his actual dinner and then some of our human dinner, he really has got us conned!

Love this. Clever boy.

He’s gorgeous. 🥰

ConfusionIsNothingNew · 08/09/2023 16:50

I love him, he's adorable!

Can I ask what breed his is, because he has similarities to our old boy, and not even our vet knows what breed he is (he's obviously a mix, but we aren't sure what of!)

DominoRules · 08/09/2023 16:51

Amazing, he’s my dogs hero and inspiration 😂

He's a Glen of Imaal Terrier, which is a fairly rare Irish breed. There are a few in the UK but they are mostly in Ireland, the US and (randomly) Finland. They're a dwarf breed so relatively big head and short legs. Their temperament is quite chill for a terrier, they don't bark much but they will hold a conversation in a growly/singy sort of way. If they're chasing something they will do it in complete silence, and if they have zoomies that's also completely silence. They have MASSIVE jaws with big teeth for tackling badgers.

Cute woofer

SunnieShine · 08/09/2023 17:21

Nice one, poochie 🐕

Missingmyusername · 08/09/2023 17:22

🤣love it.

DDog is a Labrador, so obviously he acts constantly famished. 🤦🏼‍♀️He will plow through you if you drop any food related item, so is banned from the kitchen during prep.

AnSolas · 08/09/2023 17:22

😁 👏👏

This reminds of the time the family cocker achieved her own personal goal... willing the ham that was being sliced to leap off the work surface and into the floor right in front of her. All with the power of her mind.

She never quite managed to summon up that power again!

NoraLuka · 08/09/2023 17:28

Our cat says well done, this is his life goal too. Occasionally it works, and sometimes he has to wait a bit for his dinner until I’ve checked that nobody’s already fed him (when this happens he sits and gives me the death stare!).

MariePaperRoses · 08/09/2023 17:34

For three years my cat was being fed in the morning by both my daughter and I!

I would get up first and feed her and then unknown to me, whimsy I was in the bathroom my daughter would get up and also feed her and none of us were the wiser.

Cat was a healthy weight.

Your dog is gorgeous.

Pixiedust1234 · 08/09/2023 17:35

It's a wonderful feeling when you achieve a life goal. Well done ddog!
