Anyone else's dog acted like this?

I'm in the final week(s) of my pregnancy and my dog, (who admittedly is a wee bit clingy by nature normally) will not leave my side.

She follows me absolutely everywhere I go in the house. I could walk up and down the hall and change direction multiple times and she follows without fail.

This level of shadowing is not normal for her.

She has also become way more territorial barking at everything which passes the house.

Just wondering if it's something I should be concerned about in terms of her health/anxiety? Or if it could be related to my pregnancy?

Has anyone else experienced similar at all?

Thanks in advance

You are probably exuding hormones that make her feel protective ( just a guess 😉 )

I had a dog that never left my side with my 1st pregnancy, i just knew she knew, she loved my baby too and would come and get me if he stirred in his moses basket.

My dog knew my DD2 was pregnant before she did! (she and her Dh were living with us until a month before she gave birth, waiting to complete on a house)
Usually MY dog, she basically didn't leave DD's side the whole pregnancy.

They just know.. smell hormonal changes etc. And yes they can be very protective!

When my grandson arrived I wondered if my dog would be jealous, but from the moment she met him, she became his protector too, and just accepted him as one of her humans :) Obviously we have been very careful to monitor and limit interaction, but if he cries.. she's first to alert us, and now he's 2 and understands how to stroke her gently, or leave her in peace, they have a wonderful bond.

Dogs are bloody wonderful. If you are sensible and careful (we have never allowed any unsupervised interaction or allowed my grandson to 'hug' her, disturb her or do anything silly) dogs really can be the best thing in the world with a baby :)

It's totally normal. You'll smell incredibly strange to her and you'll be acting differently too, even if you don't realise it.

Thanks everyone!
That's reassuring and also kind of amazing!
