5 month old pup and Diarrhea

Our pup started with an upset tummy on Tuesday night, Wednesday morning DH took her to the vet. They gave us promax to put on her food for three days. Yesterday was her last dose. I have woken up this morning 3 piles of diarrhoea. She’s fine in herself, she’s still on the food she’s always been on, we’ve cut out her treats and only giving her the food she’s always had. I can’t decide if we should call the vets again or wait a few more days.

What’s she fed as is there any chance she’s got to something on a walk?

We feed her Millie’s wolf heart, she’s always been on it. I don’t think she’s picked up anything on her walk. We keep a close eye on her.

I would try her on something easily digested like chicken and rice for a few days, little and often.
if she has free access to a garden just check she isn’t drinking rain water out of an old bucket or seed tray etc. with all the showers and sunshine it’s gets grim and green fairly quickly.

Thank you I will give that a go, over the weekend. I don’t think there’s water anywhere she’s drinking but I will double check.

Honestly I think she needs to go back to the vet this morning to be checked over and so they can test a sample of her poo.

If she was an adult dog then I'd say to watch and wait at home, but five month old puppies are much more susceptible to dehydration and the last thing you want is to be rushing her to the vet at midnight because she's gone downhill.

I think cinnamonfrenchtoast may be right puppies can change very quickly probably a trip to the vet would be a good idea. It’s also a Bank Holiday weekend.
without going in to detail none of us can see the diarrhoea so can’t judge, there is a vast difference between food passing through quickly and the full on variety. Hope alls ok

Our pup spent a day in the vets at 5 months as she had similar. She had bloods taken and nothing found so likely she caught a virus. She did need fluids and extra support so we were glad they admitted her as she was very flat. Under 6 months the vets err on the side of caution as they can go downhill in hours so I'd be wanting them to see her again. Ours (about £350) was all covered by insurance.
