Is this bad

I took a friends dog for a walk earlier who I sometimes take for a walk if I finish work early:

I called and asked if she was free for a walk and was told yes.

We went for a walk to the local country park and when I got back the owner said that she was in season.

Is it bad that she didn't tell me before? I feel a bit deceived. Should I?

What could or should I have done differently had I known?

I'd definitely like to know. I'd be saying next time please let me know so you can avoid busy places.

Especially if you let her off, it could be very dangerous for her. I'd also avoid busy places when they are in season as it's unsettling for them and dogs!

Yes - she should have told you. It can be risky walking a bitch in season - lots of professional walkers won't do it due to the risks.

Yes I’d have liked to know.

We walked ours in season but on a harness and long line and we drove out to remote areas where we knew we’d not meet anyone. Wouldn’t have contemplated a dog walking area.

Definitely should have told you. Could have caused dangerous fights between male dogs and the etiquette is to walk in season dogs at quieter times and away from others.

How old is the dog?

Perhaps she shouldn't have been walked in a country park.
