Getting rid of dog smell

thinkkook · 04/08/2023 20:36

We have a golden retriever who we adore.

What I don't adore is how my house now smells.

What's good for getting rid of the smell?

I open windows as much as possible, wash throws and her bedding regularly etc. what else can I do?

Brush her regularly..... Its the hair that smells.

Pet odour candles..

Wash her with a good quality dog shampoo about once a month, and leave the lather on for a good ten minutes before rinsing.
Keep her off furniture.
Buy an entirely washable bed.
Super dogs. Very very smelly.

Take her to groomers for a wash and dry

Do air purifiers work?

Will get candles!

-regular grooming
-fragrance plug ins
-washable bed
-plenty of fresh air in the house

Synthetic room smells, plug ins etc simply don’t work or mask much when it comes to that dreadful doggy odour. They’re not good for human or doggy health either. Getting to the source of odours is key, not trying to disguise it.

Does her breath smell? Are her gums & teeth healthy? Some dog foods contribute to the smell too.

You seem to be doing all you can but certainly keep her off the sofa because that’s something you presumably can’t wash!

Don't forget the toys! I was doing the same as you but forgot to wash her toys. They smelt awful.

Dog shampoo named stink bomb on Amazon. Coconut oil on dog and brush. Lavender or lemon oil in a diffuser
