Cordless hoover

FedUpWithEverything123 · 31/07/2023 17:06

Hi we recently got a dog and the fur is endless! Can anyone recommend a good cordless hoover, for tiles, wood floor, carpet, sofa etc? We also have cats so it would need to collect kitty litter too.
The ones I see recommended online (Dyson etc) are several hundred pounds - are any budget options any good, or do I need to spend that much for good quality? Thanks in advance!

Well I dont reccomend the shark anti hair wrap. Its the worst cordless hoover ive used with pets. Didnt rate the dyson either.
We have just bought a Henry Hoover and im actually disgusted with the amount of dog hair its picked up off the carpets and wood floors.
I just dont think cordless hoovers are as powerful as corded.

I would recommend Shark Cordless pet, I think it’s great. I have long, thick hair and the anti hair wrap works. I was so fed up of cutting my hair out of the brush bar. Kitty litter with the attachment, rather than trying to hoover it up.

I def don't recommend the shark cordless all
Singing and dancing with two batteries and a special speed button and attachment for the hair on sofas.

It's utterly utterly shit.

It was £300 and my slipper works better Shock

We have a Dyson cordless that we got second-hand or in a sale for about £75. It's honestly really good, especially with the upholstery attachment.

We also have a cheaper stick vacuum with the same kind of attachments from Amazon. We literally just picked one around the £75 mark with good reviews. It's not as fancy as the Dyson and is clunkier to hold, etc., but I'd say it performs almost as well.

To be honest, for furniture and cushions, I find a rubber glove works better than anything at getting hairs up. And for rugs/carpets, a broom! Especially the silicone bristle ones.

Vax blade pet is great

I also don't rate the Dyson. And I think James Dyson is a twat, so that's good enough to put my off the brand for life Grin

For hard floors, I honestly don't think anything can beat a robotic hoover and dry mop combo. I have a iRobot but there are other brands - Eufy is cheaper and gets good reviews, for example.

The vaccum also works ok on carpets, epecially as it's going around every day. I set the timer and it goes around first thing in the morning before anyone is up.

I then do use the Dyson to give it a through vaccum every few days - but when that Dyson dies it'll be a Vac or Shark to replace it.

We have a Gtech upright and a cordless, and because I am lazy, we also have a Eufy robot for downstairs, which is mainly hard floors. These are all quick, light and easy to use - great for an everyday swoosh around, and fine for cleaning up after 2 old codgers. We no longer have kids or pets, but when we did, we needed to back up the cordless vacuums once a week or so with a proper go with a corded machine.

Having read the threads re nasty pet related accidents with robot cleaners (think poo and puke being spread about....) I'd give robots a swerve!

FedUpWithEverything123 · 01/08/2023 14:23

Thank you so much everyone for your suggestions! All very helpful.
We have a robotic hoover, but I find its usefulness very limited - it is always getting trapped, cant go around furniture, caught on cables or shoelaces, doesnt pick up anything bigger than sand, cant do stairs obviously etc. I need something I can just swish around quickly, and use on stairs and furniture

We have a vax pet which I'm happy with, but our house is mainly hard flooring with a few rugs. I'm sure corded would give better performance but being able to whip round quickly everyday is more useful for us. I know it wouldn't get done if we had to get the hoover out, plug it in, wind cord back in etc.

FedUpWithEverything123 · 01/08/2023 15:41

Same here @ThrappleApple - I need to sacrifice the power of corded for the speed/convenience of cordless. We are mostly hard flooring too

@ThrappleApple do you happen to know which model? Is it here, or similar to any of these? Thank you!

I think we have the Blade4 pet.

LabbyDabbyDoohDah · 05/08/2023 22:39

We’ve got a cordless Bosch, following a recommendation on here. It’s great for dog hair and fluff. Copes with stray Go-Cat and I’m sure would manage non-cloggy litter. It automatically adjusts to different surfaces and cope with our wooden floors, carpet and travertine.

It’s got a light on the front. One if my new hobbies is turning off all the downstairs lights and joyfully watching it suck up the dog hair. On reflection, I should probably get our more.

FedUpWithEverything123 · 17/08/2023 21:26

Thanks @LabbyDabbyDoohDah - do you know what model it is, or if it's a particular "pet" model?
